If by Rudyard Kipling

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Did my daily runs on blogs today and I came across a new entry from Sweatlee. This poem, I knew this poem ever since I was 11. It was pasted on my brother's study table wall. When he left for his studies, I sat on his table everyday to do my homework and studies. And everyday I would read through this poem before I start my work to give myself motivation and inspirations. I read it everyday, till I could remember every stanza perfectly and memorized every word by heart.

At that moment, I was too young to understand the meaning of some words, but I knew that this poem had always been encouraging and motivating. When I was much younger, I wasn't as smart as anyone thought I was. I wasn't only stupid, I was also dumb. And when you are dumb, you get no where. You sit right at the bottom of everyone's hearts. Nobody gives a damn about what you say or think, because you are stupid and you can't think right.

And I asked God, why do you have to make me so stupid? Nobody like stupid girls. Why did you make me so skinny and sickly till everyone think I'm too weak to do anything? Dear God, why do people hate me? Why do they like to make me feel so inferior and think that I could be belittled? Am I just a nothing on this Earth? And then I thought, if only I were smarter, people would like me.

This poem gave me so much strength that it somewhat become like my motto in life. At that moment, the only thing I could thought of was to have people to like me and to be the smartest.
And I did, I excelled and it proved my theory right. People like to befriend you if you are smart. If you are not, you are all on your own. Even till the extend that they would try to make your face disappear from this Earth. I gained one thing which I really wanted, but I gave up so much more in order to get it. Let's just say that every success you made bound to have its sacrifices. This is common and I bet everyone have been through this. It was not easy for me to have survived what I've been through. And it's really a waste that I've thrown all those sacrifices into the deep ocean because I'm not as strong as I used to be. It's even more shameful that I've forgotten this poem entirely. Only up till today when I read Sweatlee's blog, I suddenly remembered that I know this poem a very long time ago. And that it had such a great impact on me.

I was only 11, and I could understand the heart of this poem. But it's a shame for me to say that, I don't get it now. I'm nothing as described in that poem, I have achieved not a single variable. And I wonder, when would the day come that I would grow up and be a man! A man as in the ideal human being.

As human, we might not be perfect, but yet, we could be ideal.

The Theme Is Invisible

Hello... Poems have been MIA for a very long time already. Since this blog is dedicated to rhyming poems, I feel so guilty because the posts lately are all emotional. I really want to write some of my own pieces but my workloads are piling up mountain high and yet I still feel so lazy to complete them. I guess I gotta wait till my semester break comes, then I can work on my FYP(baby) and some poem writing. So to not make this whole poetry blog thingy look so bad, I've randomly chosen a few poems with a similar theme; INVISIBLE.

I know the poems here are not rhyming which are so not my style.. But am sorry... I'm desperate :)
Even how, they still tell a story... So... erm... There...

To You I Am Invisible by AngelKate

To you I am invisible
Just a voice you do not hear
You wouldn't even glance my way
As I pleaded, through my tearsI still can't seem to understand
Why you had to let me go
But to you I am invisible
So a reason, I'll never know

To you I am invisible
You ignore me oh so well
Your silence only hurts me more
But you still have me in your spell

I plead, I beg, I want to talk
I've emailed many times
But to you I am invisible
So you throw away my cries

To you I am invisible
Just another face in the crowd
You wouldn't hear me if I screamed
And called your name aloud

So I'll watch you from a distance
Staying silent out of fear
'Cause to you I am invisible
Just a voice you do not hear
To you I am invisible
Just a voice you do not hear
You wouldn't even glance my way
As I pleaded, through my tearsI still can't seem to understand
Why you had to let me go
But to you I am invisible
So a reason, I'll never know

To you I am invisible
You ignore me oh so well
Your silence only hurts me more
But you still have me in your spell

I plead, I beg, I want to talk
I've emailed many times
But to you I am invisible
So you throw away my cries

To you I am invisible
Just another face in the crowd
You wouldn't hear me if I screamed
And called your name aloud

So I'll watch you from a distance
Staying silent out of fear
'Cause to you I am invisible
Just a voice you do not hear

I Am Not Invisible by Tanis Joy

You make me feel invisible

When you look at me like that

You tell me how I need to change

‘Stead of seein’ where I’m at

Everything revolves around you

It’s like I’m not a person

Well hell’s ya if you treat me like that

My “problems” will only worsen

You told me I looked fat today

It’s just too bad you can’t see

That your hateful words are just ruts

Preventing me from being me

Tell me why I can forgive your flaws

And still love you all the same

When you continue to mess around

And play this hatin’ game

I love you more than you’ve ever loved me

I hope your eyes will open

To help remove your own disguise

And see the beauty in the broken

I know there are times when I can do better

I am just searching for who I am

Life can be busy, life can he hard

I just wish you’d give a damn

I wish you could see your words impact

It would explain problems at home

Well welcome sister to my world

Where I am constantly alone

I want you to see the real me

So look at me with open eyes

I am more than just your slave

Please remove your crafty lies

It wasn’t always like this though

We used to be the best of friends

Maybe your view will change

And we may return again

These years have been tough for me

I could have really used a friend

Someone who really cared for me

And would see me to the end

Sister I need you

Sister I love you

Sister I’d hug you

Sister…accept me

Am I invisible to you by Heather Ann Gilbert

Am I invisible to you? I know you see me,
But it's like you see right through me, past me upon something better and more beautiful.
I thought you loved me, but in such short time that beautiful,
happy felling we once shared is torn apart, never to be felt again between these two souls. I cry, I smile, I try to forget. I really truly thought this would be for the best.
You said we'd still be friends, which is with all my heart what I desire.
But I pass you in the hall without even a smile, hello.
Am I invisible to you? Any words or looks would be better then none. I know you have one but why do guys have to be such dicks.
A love that was full bloom, bueatiful, is now dead and gone but like the dead rose, the thorns still remain.
There to hurt you and cause your soul to bleed.
There will always be thorn's.
Why do you have the treat be this way? Am I still a beautiful to you as I was last year?
I'm still the same, I guess you've decided to change.
Do you even see me here crying on his shoulder, a guy I barely know but who right now, is treating me better then you are?
Is it really all gone like that, in an instant, in a flash?
You say to move on, but how can you so soon, how can you after so long?
Fire, if thats how you wast it to be a heartless bastard,
Move on to your meaningless whores you used to have every weekend I too will move on,
On to someone who will love me and not control me.
I will move on to someone who will never have to hear me say?
Am I invisible to you?

IS THIS EVEN A POEM? HHMMM...

OKAY......... THAT'S ALL........ BYE BYE......... HAVE TO EAT BOOKS NOW....

Goodbye My Love (OLD POEM)

Walking hand in hand,
Strolling down the beach,
This is where we stand,
A star upon our reach.

Once I had a dream,
Something similar to this,
Maybe not all is true,
but part of it at least,

In my dream I saw your face,
Smiling back at me,
I tried to smile a little,
Embarrassed, so you see.

But all of a sudden,
The dream just ended,
Paused a little,
Kept me stranded.

Was it because I was embarrassed?
Was it because I was shy?
Was it because I had to smile,
And gave it a little try?

And then I remembered about,
The purpose I was here,
To have our last meeting,
Something which I fear.

It was a silent night,
Warm and cozy,
Never once I had this feeling,
Something so nasty.

This might be the last time,
I am seeing you,
And his might be the only chance,
I'm telling what is true.

The truth which is,
Can never be wrong,
My love for you,
Is really strong.

But no matter what,
Or how strong it is,
We can't fight Him,
The power is His.

Ans so as humans,
There's nothing we can do,
Just listen to him,
And break the chain in two.

'Goodbye my love',
To you I said,
'I'm sorry to tell you,
There's no use to wait.'

'For I don't want you,
To regret for life,
Let go the burden,
Never you strive.'

'And so on this lovely night,
We bid our last goodbye,
Witnessed by the bright moonlight,
Baby don't you cry.'

Fairytale (OLD POEM)

Since many people were asking me to update my blog, I guess I'll just post my old poems for the time being. I really dun have anything interesting to blog about. No, I don't wanna talk about my damn sucky results. Really disappointed with it. I really needed a good gpa dis time to pull up my already torn n shredded results. Afraid to appeal cause am scared that they will give me a lower grade if I appeal. About the S'pore trip. I'll think about it if I wanna post something. Cause I'm lack of pictures and dun have the mood to blog about it.

So here's an old poem I wrote sometime 4 years ago. I give you Fairytale...

Once upon a time,
When the sky was still blue,
When the grass was so green,
When your words were so true.

Once upon a time,
When the river ran free,
When the birds sang to me,
When we laughed in glee.

Once upon a time,
When we were so close,
When you held me near your heart,
When you treated me like a rose.

Once upon a time,
When you sang a song to me,
When you wrote me beautiful poems,
When you paid the ticket fee.

Once upon a time,
When we talked on the phone,
When we crossed on the road,
When we sat together alone.

Once upon a time,
Was not too long ago,
But it was like a fairytale,
Something I'll never let go.

Love In Time Part 2

The Continuation.

31-12-2008

I saw her again today,

On a wild New Year’s Eve’s night,

Tomorrow will be a whole new beginning,

I hope the New Year will be alright.

I got to know a little more,

A little more about her,

She seems a little mysterious,

And was careful not to blunder.

I don’t know why I have this feeling,

A feeling deep down inside of me,

That this girl I’ve known somewhere,

In a far, far land across the sea.

But then still I was so glad,

That we finally met again,

God had sided me all these while,

“Thank You God, Amen”

It’s much disbelief,

That, how this could have happened,

Meeting a girl whom I thought I knew,

In a foreign place called New England.

I wonder if it’s our destiny,

That we keep bumping into each other,

I would really love to know her more,

And to start a whole new chapter.

I boldly asked her for a date,

Just a simple casual outing,

Nothing too fancy or extraordinary,

Just movies, strolling and dining.

I was overwhelmed when she said yes,

I could almost die,

Though I knew she looked quite reluctant,

But at least she gave it a try.

2-01-2009

The date went fine, the food was great,

It was a night to be remembered,

Since it was our very first date,

We both seemed a little awkward.

But then I knew that this will not,

Be our first and last meeting,

For there’s more to come in the near future,

And I’ll be patiently waiting.

29-03-2009

For the past three months,

We laughed and joked and danced and sang together,

We cried and poured out our heart and soul,

In times of sorrow, we comforted one another.

We seemed to have become great friends,

And I began to love her more,

But I’m afraid to confess my love,

I’m afraid to be rejected and ignored.

And so I kept it to myself,

Hoping for the right time to come,

But when the time is finally here,

I just stood stiff and numb.

2-04-2009

3 long hours, I waited for her,

Outside the cold, dark operating room,

I prayed again and again to God Almighty,

To shine some light upon the gloom.

I need her to be safe,

And want her to be cured,

I want to tell her how much I love her,

And that her whole life will be secured.

Oh God, please give her strength,

Please help her go through the pain,

I need to see her happy face,

She must be healthy again.

Lights off, door opened.

Doctor: I’m sorry but we have tried our best. But Amber would want you to have this letter.

Amber?

I’m sorry that I hid the truth,

And many lies I have told,

But many a time I wanted to run,

And my feelings, I should have controlled.

Yes, my name is Amber,

The Amber that you once knew,

I’m the girl who left you a long time ago,

But still in my heart there’s you.

There was a reason to why I left,

And said those cold hearted words that day,

And now that the time is up,

For me to reveal the truth today.

I found out that I was sick,

And a chance of dying soon,

And therefore I had to leave you,

To deal with my misfortune.

I didn’t want to tell you,

And drag you to my misery,

You’re the best thing that have ever happened to me,

And because of you, I must set you free.

Trust me it was not easy,

For me to bid goodbye,

I miss you each and everyday,

Thinking of you just makes me cry.

When I met you again last year,

It jus made me feel like yesteryears,

I wanted so much to be with you,

But the same time I had my fears.

I tried so hard to avoid you,

But somehow we will still meet,

I guess this must be one of God’s plans,

Another fact I cannot beat.

And so I tried as much as I could,

To hide the truth from you,

And I was glad it went all well,

You didn’t have a clue.

Now I that I am gone forever,

I want you to leave on,

And to know that I still love you,

Let the bygones be bygones.

Keep me and my love,

Forever in your heart,

But please promise me one more thing,

To find love and a brand new start.

And this is the last real goodbye,

Goodbye to you my love,

And if God permits me one more wish,

I’ll be waiting for you up there, high up way above.

Amber.

Love In Time

Hi Hi, this is another not nice poem I just wrote recently. But it's only halfway trough. It's actually quite a nice story but I am really not a good writer. But still I wanna share my ideas. So here's another long half written boring poem.

05-12-2005

When I saw you hugged him,

My heart broke into a million pieces,

Though the sight was just for a moment,

But the pain would last for ages,

It was all so sudden,

That you had to bid goodbye,

You said you love me no more,

And I was left to ask the question why.

You said that you were done,

Caring and loving me,

That we should find new lives,

And set ourselves free.

You left me just like that,

And disappeared from my life,

I really thought that I could make you,

My one and only wife.

You told me to be strong,

That it’s not my fault we have to part,

Cherish the moments that we once had,

And keep the feelings alive in my heart.

I will always remember,

Every memory that we once shared,

Even if I were to find new love,

To yours, it can never be compared.

There must be a reason,

For you to leave me now,

But what ever you do, you’ll have my blessings,

This is my promise, this is my vow.

And so I bid goodbye too,

I’ll pray for your happiness,

Please know that I don’t hate you,

Come back to me when you’re in darkness.

10-10-2008

I wonder if I was dreaming,

Or I have seen it wrong,

How could 2 people be so alike?

Why did I feel a bond so strong?

But she said she wasn’t her,

And that I have mistaken,

Though they have the same big eyes,

But she is a Korean.

She had that strong Korean accent,

That made me trusted her,

Apart from her good looks,

There’s no way she could be Amber.

This world must be really small,

And so much of repetition,

Two girls could be so alike,

It made my soul hearten.

And I am looking forward,

To meet this girl again,

Hopefully to get to know her,

And a long lost love, regain.

14-10-2008

Oh, this must be destiny,

This must be my chance,

I felt crazily happy,

Till like I went into trance.

God must have heard,

The prayers I said that day,

And made my wish came true,

To let us meet today.

I was at this parlor,

Just happened to pass by it,

But I had an urge to walk in,

A feeling I couldn’t omit.

For ice-cream is not my favourite,

And certainly was not a craving,

But my legs just leaded the way,

And slipped in without me knowing.

The first thing that caught my eyes,

Were not the icy cool ice-creams,

It was the answer to my prayer,

I wonder if this is one of the daydreams.

I sat right next to her,

Without asking her permission,

I said hello to her,

And asked if she comes often.

We had small little talks,

But she didn’t feel quite happy,

I must have been a nuisance,

This I must agree.

Soon enough she asked to leave,

And walked out from the parlor,

I wonder if I could see her again,

God, I need an answer.

Stay tune for the continuation. Thanks alot and sorry to bore you guys.

Be Strong

It's late I know. But this took me for like less than 45 minutes and its not inspirational at all.. blahhh.. another shitty poem.. but I still wrote smtg anyway credits to Tat Wei for giving me the title. And June have been asking bout my OWN poems. So here is one LAME OWN SHITTY poem.. sorry june.. no poetry mood lately.. Ok here, blah blah blah yada yada yada................

Be Strong..

The world seems unfair,

Though I know it isn’t,

But still I say it is,

To make myself feel pleasant.

I know I ain’t cool,

I know I ain’t smart,

I may not be the prettiest,

But I do have a heart.

For my heart crushes and tears,

Everytime it is hurt,

From the words and acts of others,

Who thinks I’m some sort like a dirt.

It is just my nature,

To hide me in my shell,

Is it a sin that I’m not famous?

Why would you treat me like hell?

I do not score all A’s,

And I don’t excel in class,

Just because I’m not smart enough,

Doesn’t mean I’m a dumb ass.

I’m not slim and slender,

Like the girls on the runway,

But it’s not my fault to be born ugly,

If it was you, what would you say?

Yes the world is unfair,

But it’s not up for me to say,

As long as I have faith and be strong,

I would not go astray.

Ok that's it. Sorry to waste ur time.. Nites peeps.
