The Past and the Future: A New Year

When the year end comes,
I sat alone and pondered,
Tried to look back as far,
And thought what I had conquered.

But the visions that came to me,
Was as blur as morning mist,
Were there too much? I wondered,
Or was it a short list.

It must be a short list,
And there was nothing great about it,
Just those usual daily achievements,
Cause the bigger tasks, I quit.

It’s not a good manner, you see,
To give up before you try,
But it’s no use too to regret,
What’s the point to cry?

For tomorrow will be a new year,
And there’s always another chance,
Leave those sadness behind,
And increase the will, enhance.

We will succeed one day,
Though we need to schlepp,
For Rome was not built in a day,
And a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

So I’m hoping that the New Year,
Will bring us more joy and victory,
May we be bless with good health and laughter,
Let the New Year be a fantasy.

A New Year's Plea

I'm not quite sure who wrote this but most probably by Edgar Guest. I came across this poem at this page and thought that it's worth sharing and plus its a new year poem. Hope I've done something right.

A New Year's Plea

Lord, let me stand in the thick of the fight,
Let me bear what I must without whining;
Grant me the wisdom to do what is right,
Though a thousand false beacons are shining.

Let me be true as the steel of a blade,
Make me bigger than skillful or clever;
Teach me to cling to my best, unafraid,
And harken to false gospels, never.

Let me be brave when the burden is great,
Faithful when wounded by sorrow;
Teach me, when troubled, with patience to wait
The better and brighter to-morrow.

Spare me from hatred and envy and shame,
Open my eyes to life's beauty;
Let not the glitter of fortune or fame
Blind me to what is my duty.

Let me be true to myself to the end,
Let me stand to my task without whining;
Let me be right as a man, as a friend,
Though a thousand false beacons are shining.

It's motivational isn't it? I like it.

Bulletin Post: Just an update

I just signed up for Nuffnang. I guess I won't be able to help them much cause seriously, how many readers do I have? Not that my blog is pretty unique or something. But, you know, just incase lar. And I do hope that my poems get some attention.

Well, uhhmm... nothing much last week. Darling went to cambodia for his vacation and I'm stuck here all alone. No driver to send me here and then. And plus new year is coming, all I know is just sit at home and more dramas. Or should I say, better work on those Industrial training reports? Shhooottt.. time really flies. 3 months already? And I'm gonna leave this freaking working world, back to my ol' schooling life? Face it, reality.

Hope that I can meet up with darling when he comes back this weeked. I'm dying to watch Avatar (yes, i've not watched it yet) and Chipmunks 2. I've been wanting to watch those ever since Avatar came out. But darling, till then, just enjoy your trip and have a safe flight home alrite? Shall be missing ya!

O ya, since I've signed up for Nuffnang, I think I should post something which can attract advertisers and also something that relates to my blog. POEMS???? How many people actually interested in it?

Like Mr. Ong said (Dora-e-ong) I should watch more movies which are related to poetry just like he watches all movies which are related to maths. Maybe that will help, and Thanks Mr. Ong for introducing me Dead Poets Society. I bet it's gonna be a great start. But of course, if I only blog about poem-related movies I'm gonna bore the whole world. So I'm gonna write about other movies as well. Check out some latest or coming soon movies and try to watch latest movies as soon as they are released. Well, should go check what else I can post in this dully blog of mine.

SCOOTTT!!!!!

The Blind Side

Based on a true story....

A book was written

And based on this story,

A movie was directed

The movie, The Blind Side(2009) was released in the US on 20th November 2009 and had received many good feedbacks and reviews. Am so looking forward for this movie to be released in Malaysian cinemas but I could not find a single info about it.
Wonder who Michael Oher (pronounced as oar) is? Here's a little information for a start . click me
A little review about the book... click me
Well well, very sad indeed. He had lived his childhood years in misery, with his father murdered and his drug-addict mother, whom he and his siblings were taken away from. It isn't about the miserable childhood story that I felt sorry for, nor the fact that he became famous despite all the hardships that he had gone through ,
but rather/instead the journey on how he became one of the best athlete in the United States that amazed/touched me.
From the synopsis, we know that Michael was really lucky to have been adopted by a rich white family, whom many people do not have this fortune.
But the one fact that made me flabbergasted was, a white couple invited a black orphan(almost) to live in their house, with their family (together with a daughter and son) without being aware of the danger that could befall them. They did not know a single thing about him, where he came from, what are his family background like, has he any criminal records, no... not even one bit.
But they cared for him, they nurtured him, they encouraged him to play american football, they schooled him, just like any parents would have done for their own flesh and blood.
The adoptive mother (the lady who had changed Michael's life) , Leigh Anne Tuohy had all the courage to offer an unknown stranger a shelter, and indirectly raised him as her own son. In reality, who would actually sacrifice their time and wealth and risking their's and their family's safety to do this? Out of pity maybe we might have some thoughts of doing good deed, but for me, maybe till the extend of donations? With this world filled with much uncertainties and violence, we can't predict much.(cant blame me) But the Touhy family had by all means, shoved out the fears and the toughts that their actions might have put their family into jeopardy. You might think this is crazy, practically a big fat lie, joke of the year but hey.... put a ( . ) on those thoughts, scroll up, look back,
Based on a true story....
Its a fact, its something which happened, to Michael and to the Tuohys ..
And there is another thing which caught my eye( came to know that this poem was recited in the movie)
The Charge Of The Light Brigade
by Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Half a league half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred:
'Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns' he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
'Forward, the Light Brigade!'
Was there a man dismay'd ?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Some one had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do & die,
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
this is an extract from the full poem. click here for the full one.
and if you wanna understand the meaning of this poem. THIS site gives a very detailed explaination.
After reading the explaination over and over again, understanding it, I start to wonder, could this poem be anything related to Leigh Anne Tuohy? Well, this is just something I feel, could it have been taking Michael to live with them is 'Into the valley of Death'
could it had be 'Some one had blunder'd' , Leigh Anne made a mistake for her actions but
her family just continue supporting her actions - 'Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do & die'
This poem talks about honour and courage, so is it Leigh Anne's courage to have adopted Michael?
Arrrggghhh.... I jumbled up the whole thing. I'm so stupid *whack*whack*sobzzz.
Well, hope to watch it soon in the theater and hopefully then I can relate?
Do hope this story don't only bring tears to your eyes but an awareness that
There are such people who are less fortunate and needs our care, love and trust.
and that
There are people who are willing to give what they can to change a person's life, if only you are willing to open up, to share and be a little less violent.
Sorry if I've hurt anyone, Sorry if this bores you and sorry if I have posted wrong info. I'm just here to share a little news but I bragged about it.. SORRY.

Love You Still From Heaven (# 1)

Chapter 1: The Break-up

I really didn’t understand,
Why was I treated that way?
I thought we would be together, forever,
I thought that you would stay.

I knew that I was wrong,
To have lost my love for you,
But I wasn’t sure of myself,
I hoped that it was not true.

But somehow I seem to realize,
That you felt the same way too,
I wished that I was wrong,
But it turned out to be true.

You always missed my calls,
And replied my messages late,
You gave me thousands of excuses,
And often made me wait.

Our love was going nowhere,
We have been drifted apart,
I wished that I could say those words,
But I didn’t have the heart.

That we should break-up,
And give ourselves some time,
To try and experience new love,
It is not a crime.

But I guess I wasn’t ready,
To give up our love,
The feeling was so warm and tender,
Just like heaven above.

How could I let go,
The memories we once shared,
And the thought of loosing you,
It made me really scared.

And so I thought, I should,
To give ourselves a chance,
To try to love again,
And made it more enhance.

But my hope did not last,
You only stayed a while,
But I thought I did my part,
And tried to make you smile.

What have I done wrong,
That made you walked away?
Could you give me a reason?
Why could you not stay?

Was I not understanding?
Did I treat you bad?
Or was it because I never listened,
And made you really sad?

The night when we broke-up,
I remembered it very clear,
We said that we should part in peace,
Farewell to you my dear.

I thought that I would cry,
But I did not shed a tear,
I felt a little weird,
Was it too severe?

And so I closed my eyes,
Tried hard not to think,
I found a tuneless song,
And I started to sing.

I hoped that it will help,
To clear away my mind,
I told myself that it’s okay,
Another love, I will find.

I felt a little glad,
For not having so much pain,
If fate allows us to be together,
I’m sure we’ll meet again.

So till then I wish you luck,
In everything that you do,
No matter it was work or love,
I will always support you.

Love like you've never been hurt by Alfred D. Souza

Haaahhh… finished watching My Lovely Sam Soon last night. Only had 4 episodes left, so only stayed up till 3.30 a.m. Well, watched BOF and this K drama, kinda noticed that Korean gals can be harsh at words sometimes. And one more thing, they like to hit guy’s head… pity those guys lar.. and most of them didn’t really hit gals back also. If that’s real then they are really gentlemen lor… But until certain extend, some will of course try to defend back lar…. Watching movies, or dramas do not only bring me pleasures and relaxation, but they often teach me lessons of life, love, family, friendship and many others. Towards the end of the story, they cited a quote/poem/phrase/wateva from Alfred D. Souza with the title “love like you’ve never been hurt”.

Dance like no one’s watching,
Love like you’ve never been hurt,
Sing like nobody’s listening,
Work like you don’t need money,
Live like you’re in heaven on earth,
Assume today is the last day.

It’s really true I guess how this world can befall us… with my own interpretations:

Dance like no one’s watching – I suppose people dance to take away their emotions, let those emotions swirl around you, flow within you and let it go together with the wind. When no one’s watching, everyone is bold enough to do just anything in this world. Dance boldly and let everything go..

Love like you’ve never been hurt –if you have been in love before and got hurt deeply, I think you won be able to give your heart another chance to be broken once more. It will be really superb if all love can be the first love. Wipe away the previous memories, forget everything about the past, and hopes every relationship will be the first kiss, the first touch… though we can’t do that, but I think he is trying to tell us to love the best way we can, give our all, be sincere and serious with any relationship you take. Love like there’s no tomorrow, love like there’s no ending, love like there’s no promise.

Sing like nobody’s listening – singing?? Expressing our feelings at that moment, when we cant say out what our feelings are exactly like, people do relate them with songs, make them as a substitute. Sing like nobody’s listening, you don’t have to be a top celebrity/ singer to sing. Anyone can just hymn out the tune, scream to the lyrics without being afraid that there will be someone else judging you. No limits to that, no ratings.

Work like you don’t need money – when money is not a big necessity in our lives, we can turn our jobs into our pleasures, our hobbies and not our source of money. Then we won’t be too stressed out with this competitive life after all, will we?

Live like you’re in heaven on earth – heaven… every word describing it is indescribable.. simply marvelous… if life is like that, we’ll be all on cloud nine.

Assume today is the last day – laugh while you can, live while you can, love while you can, so seize the day (hallmark) live our lives like there is no tomorrow. We won’t know what is gonna happen in the future. Stop reminiscing about the past, stop worrying about the future but just stop, breathe and enjoy the second of today while it still lasts. Make the full use of the present, and try everything even you gotta break the rules, cause you may not know when you can break them again. So, why not now, than the uncertain tomorrow?

Bulletin Post: Reading Xiaxue's Blog

Am kinda free right now, and super lazy to write my report or my poems, so i decided to read Xiaxue's old, long ago posts. I skimmed and scanned here and there. Well, she's no doubt entertaining and when I read her posts, I feel that she was reading them to me. Makes it more fun with her witty Singlish, though some chinese or hokkien I don't understand. But i kinda get wat she meant lar.. I've been following her blog ever since i knew what was blog is ( dun laugh at me I know I'm not cyber pro ) like 6 months ago??? ( Go ahead, laugh till ur head explode, I know I'm superdamn outdated, but it's my bloody business)

And oh yeah, I know i should comment this on her blog, but i shud jus save all the touble and 'sun pian' say it here. (Really very very very X 100 lazy bum me)

Congratulations on Your Engagement
and I loved your THE Love Story post very very much... ur love story is a very sweet, enthralling (wow, wat a fancy word, i hope i used it right, pls correct me if i'm wrong, the word jus stumbled upon me) fairy tale which many gals would have wanted them to be reality, and urs did.
So i hope You and Mike will have a fabulous life together, and may you both be blessed wit a great future ahead of you!

Bulletin Post: Lazy Lazy Me

Sigh!!! Internship is coming to an end but lazy me still haven't start a single shit on my report. (apart from daily tasks) I'm just utterly reluctant to do it. Sigh hopeless me. Besides, I really do not know if what I had planned to write for my report is good enough for me to pass my industrial training. Am really scared I'll be the only one left behind. FYI I'm a pretty weak student, self-discouraged, not to mention LAZY, and also prefer wasting time on dramas and day-dreaming. Guess, engineering is just isn't for me!! If there are parties who offer jobs that I can watch dramas or movies (besides movie critics) I think I'll be a perfect candidate! *winks*

I only slept for like 2 hours from 6.30 a.m to 8.30 a.m cause I was so hooked up with a Korean drama. Though it's an old drama, but I don't have any new ones that i can catch up with. Thanks to "My Lovely Sam Soon" , it brought back the Korean fever i had after Boys Over Flower. BOF Forever!!! Only had 2 hours of sleep, surprisingly, i'm still surviving, managed to get ready to work on time and had some time to play with baby Marcus somemore. I am so eager to see him every morning. He just brightens up my day with his laugh and smile. He's a happy boy. Awww, how i wish i could be a baby again!! Life was sure like a queen back then. Back to story, though, I'm totally awake and not feeling tired one bit, I do feel that my eyes are not as energetic and bright like other days. But ain't sleepy lar..

Sigh!! How I wish Ican stay up all night studying instead of watching Dramas? But just everytime I open up my notes or books, drowsiness just lured me. What can I do? It's like a drug. Lecture notes are like cough medicine or running nose pills that make you sleepy. (though some doesn't)

Well, well, about my writings, have many ideas flowing into my head, but just can't get a story line for it. And the poems, errr, dun have the inspiration and the rhythm going on.. I'm hopeless..... I guess IT will never come true...

Transferred from my manual Book Of Emotion:

I really wanna start a story but it's not gonna happen isn't it?
Maybe I am never gonna be a writer. I guess I will only let my feelings, ideas and emotions play in my mind and never be published.

I know i gotta stick to reality, I'm a gal who gives up easily, and dispirited easily.... Time will tell, so just let time decide my all!!
Snap me back to reality PLEASE!!!

Wat-A-Weekend

Friday was a public holiday, so I had no work n darling brought me out shopping. Big sales had been going on for some time already, but I only get to shop now. Sigh… pity me. By now I guess all the good stuffs are taken by others already. My budget was really damn tight, so I gotta prioritize New Year’s clothes though I really have a lot of other stuffs on my list. Next time probably, but I guess my next time is always gonna be a next time. Didn’t get anything like super great till I can brag about it (bragging), plus it’s kinda hard to get something nice my size cause all “kena sapu habis” already. So we went to The Curve at first, and around 4 we changed destination to 1 Utama. Some decorations there…

And we ate at Tokyo G for dinner cause they had some Magnificent promotion. Some bento sets starting from RM 16 like that plus free miso soup and chawamushi. Then if u take the set, you can also add on 3 types of sushi rolls for RM 7 each ( N/P : 8.90) and mocktail also at RM 7 I think (N/P : 8 smtg also) So we just went in to try lor.. it was nice. I usually don’t like chawamushi in Sushi King cause it didn’t taste like steam egg. But I tried the one in Tokyo G, it taste like real steam egg. So I liked it. Some pictures here, sorry its not very good, cause the lighting were dim, almost dark and this is all C510 can do. SORRY!

darling...

miso soup n chawamushi

our unagee set

some geisha roll.. which is actually spicy tuna with mayo with deep fried bean curd

So at the end of the day, these are the very few that I bought. Really very few lor..haha… I am very obsessed with labels and I think I have Branditis? Don’t blame me if it’s not a proper word, I learned it from a magazine. Lols.. With my sickness, and my tight budget and the fact that I’m not rich… so I can only afford to buy these…

Basic T from Naf Naf

Cute little top from MoMo

A baggy from Charles and Keith ( I wanna start a baggy collection, plus darling said next time he will make a room to display all my baggy there. Lols)

Well, I kinda like a baggy from Chanel which was like love at first sight when I saw a girl having it quite some time ago. I don’t want to buy something which looks similar to it, cause this might mean imitation. And I strongly hate it and very sensitive about it especially, when it comes to baggy. I will either buy the original or don’t buy it at all.. sobsss… it means I can’t buy it.. cause I very poor de mar… haha..

Oh yeah, there is another thing that I bought..

a dress from Pull and Bear (Lucky that they had some discounts that day or else I won’t even bother going in) although the price was not reduced much, but this dress cheaper RM 30, oklor.. It was already dinner time, and I only had 2 tops. If I went home with only 2 tops that day, I’m afraid that I might lose 10 more tops. (lols.. too angry till I had to destroy them) Had to queue for some time to try in the fitting room also. Errrr… I know this depends on each person’s preference, some will say …

ayah.. why you buy this? It looks like Pajamas lar… which second thought, a bit lor.

Some will say, doesn’t suit you lar.. like too big on you.. But err hello??? This is XS already.. don’t think they have XXS lor..

and lastly???

Har?? RM 139 for a simple dress?? Not worth o…. But I think it’s worth every cent I spent on it. Overall, it might look simple. But I prefer a more decent and casual style. Don’t like those complicated, lala style. And it’s definitely not expensive to me, for a dress like this it’s worth buying. I like the material, the cutting and from Pull and Bear, the quality shouldn’t run much wan lar. I have much experience in buying cheap stuff, and always end up regretting it. Cause at the end, there will be something not right about it. Always got seduced by the attractive prices. They are indeed very nice and cheap, I realized that they ended up.. unusable? If I add up all the money I spent on all those items, I could have bought one thing durable. Ermm… back to the dress, I loved it the instant I had it on, even though it looks a bit like ahma pajamas, I still gotta deny it and love it. Wat to do???

in this snap it looks like ahma pajamas...

That’s all for shopping. We went back to grands’s on Saturday and Sunday we made “tang yuen”. One year only can eat once, so "gian chiak" … yummm…so… below are some pictures of the simple process. Didn’t take many pics cause didn’t wanna attract attention.

the kacang as the “inti” or filling

making the dough

Now gonna mold it

after molding, it looks like this lor.. this is the one without filling

togetherness

Mickey…faster faster took a picture of it.. and then had to make it round back. Or else grandma scold… hehe..

mickey...

this is the one without groundnuts filling

and this is the one with the filling

see the filling

warmth of a family.. and this festival is celebrated by the Chinese in China in the winter season… dunno the history, sorry lor.. I “banana” mar.. haha..
and oh lastly.. a very shocking news...
