The Blind Side

Based on a true story....

A book was written

And based on this story,

A movie was directed

The movie, The Blind Side(2009) was released in the US on 20th November 2009 and had received many good feedbacks and reviews. Am so looking forward for this movie to be released in Malaysian cinemas but I could not find a single info about it.
Wonder who Michael Oher (pronounced as oar) is? Here's a little information for a start . click me
A little review about the book... click me
Well well, very sad indeed. He had lived his childhood years in misery, with his father murdered and his drug-addict mother, whom he and his siblings were taken away from. It isn't about the miserable childhood story that I felt sorry for, nor the fact that he became famous despite all the hardships that he had gone through ,
but rather/instead the journey on how he became one of the best athlete in the United States that amazed/touched me.
From the synopsis, we know that Michael was really lucky to have been adopted by a rich white family, whom many people do not have this fortune.
But the one fact that made me flabbergasted was, a white couple invited a black orphan(almost) to live in their house, with their family (together with a daughter and son) without being aware of the danger that could befall them. They did not know a single thing about him, where he came from, what are his family background like, has he any criminal records, no... not even one bit.
But they cared for him, they nurtured him, they encouraged him to play american football, they schooled him, just like any parents would have done for their own flesh and blood.
The adoptive mother (the lady who had changed Michael's life) , Leigh Anne Tuohy had all the courage to offer an unknown stranger a shelter, and indirectly raised him as her own son. In reality, who would actually sacrifice their time and wealth and risking their's and their family's safety to do this? Out of pity maybe we might have some thoughts of doing good deed, but for me, maybe till the extend of donations? With this world filled with much uncertainties and violence, we can't predict much.(cant blame me) But the Touhy family had by all means, shoved out the fears and the toughts that their actions might have put their family into jeopardy. You might think this is crazy, practically a big fat lie, joke of the year but hey.... put a ( . ) on those thoughts, scroll up, look back,
Based on a true story....
Its a fact, its something which happened, to Michael and to the Tuohys ..
And there is another thing which caught my eye( came to know that this poem was recited in the movie)
The Charge Of The Light Brigade
by Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Half a league half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred:
'Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns' he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
'Forward, the Light Brigade!'
Was there a man dismay'd ?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Some one had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do & die,
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
this is an extract from the full poem. click here for the full one.
and if you wanna understand the meaning of this poem. THIS site gives a very detailed explaination.
After reading the explaination over and over again, understanding it, I start to wonder, could this poem be anything related to Leigh Anne Tuohy? Well, this is just something I feel, could it have been taking Michael to live with them is 'Into the valley of Death'
could it had be 'Some one had blunder'd' , Leigh Anne made a mistake for her actions but
her family just continue supporting her actions - 'Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do & die'
This poem talks about honour and courage, so is it Leigh Anne's courage to have adopted Michael?
Arrrggghhh.... I jumbled up the whole thing. I'm so stupid *whack*whack*sobzzz.
Well, hope to watch it soon in the theater and hopefully then I can relate?
Do hope this story don't only bring tears to your eyes but an awareness that
There are such people who are less fortunate and needs our care, love and trust.
and that
There are people who are willing to give what they can to change a person's life, if only you are willing to open up, to share and be a little less violent.
Sorry if I've hurt anyone, Sorry if this bores you and sorry if I have posted wrong info. I'm just here to share a little news but I bragged about it.. SORRY.

Since you like poetry so much, have you watch the 1989 movie - Dead Poet Society staring Robin Williams? One of my favorite movie and is about an unorthodox English teacher named John Keating. Highly recommended!

I didn't know that you never watch this movie before, I always assume that a "poetical" girl like you must have watch a movie about poetry, ha ha, like I watch every movie about math. I hope you can find that movie, hard to find though, but good news is I have the VCD, ha ha, I am more than happy to lend it to you.
